If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.
Bruce Lee
The martial arts legend points to what the majority of us are guilty of, from the perspective of our professional lives regarding our most important work.
Naturally, we are great thinkers, yet to take action on an important “thing” and then see it through to completion, is often a struggle. Before we know it, the next “thing” comes along, then the next, and the work starts to pile up unpleasantly.
Background
LessBizy was established on the foundation of how to help solve this common problem, with productivity as the key driver, along with our principles of productivity in mind:
- Be organized
- Prioritize your tasks
- Adopt the 80/20 rule (the Pareto Principle)
- Do one task at a time
- Be disciplined in your approach
- Know when and how to execute
When one improves productivity, they become less busy and achieve more
The “thing” or “things” we need or want to finish, shouldn’t feel so far out of reach. By making small and gradual adjustments to increase productivity, our projects and tasks become much easier to complete.
Work Smarter not Harder
Being busy in the workplace to the extent that one is overloaded and losing control, is not something to be proud of. Generally speaking, it’s unsustainable, harmful to our health, and brings out the worst in us. Who likes to be around a stressed person?
We can be busy working hard and racking up the hours, but why not work smarter instead? We should enable more time for ourselves to think clearly and strategically, learn something new, focus on the next task, or even simply enjoy the free time gained.
